Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Kingsley Fanwo says no state needs an airport in the country more than Kogi State.

Hon. Fanwo while reacting to recent critics in some sections of the social media described comments condemning the move as ridiculous and awkward.

Recently, Kogi State Government announced plans to get about fifty billion Naira SUKUK for Kogi International Airport and the Lokoja International Market.

The International Airport was greeted with mixed feelings on social media as some said the state does not need an airport, while others argued that the proposed Airport is a long overdue welcome development.

According to the Information and Communication Commissioner, in view of the strategic location of the State, the airport when completed will serve about eleven states.

Mr. Fanwo noted that the airport which is long overdue is part of the vision of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to connect the state to the world.

He stated that the airport, when completed, will enhance the tourism potentials of the State and development of mineral resources.

The Commissioner stated that the International Market, apart from providing state of the art market facilities, will decongest the heavy traffic along the present location.

He pointed out that the Japa Syndrome particularly among medical workers has reduced with the welfare approach introduced by the State Government.
