Appeal to Kogi State Government and the Management of Kogi State University on the No School Fees, No Exam Memo.
The council of students traditional rulers in Kogi State University (KSU) Anyigba, comprising the President of Igala Student Association (ISA), National Association of Okun Students Union (NAOS) and the National Association of Ebira Students (NAES), have been working tremendously on the aforementioned memo. The movement thus far included a series of consultations, meetings, fact findings and appeals on the way out of the current happenings.
The school management have in the time past proffered a way out for students in this predicament in the previous sessions by the option of written undertaking. We all know how that went. The report of the visitation panel indicted the school management for that, stating that the school is not a charitable organization and hence such should not have happened.
The above situation have made the management reluctant in taking similar action, which means putting their jobs on the line.
Our appeal is directed to the Kogi State government and visitation panel to look into this as the current happenings in the country and states makes it difficult for parents and guardians to pay their children and wards’ fees. The school management can only grant our plea if a directive to that effect come from the state government.
We the entire students community are pleading with the visitation panel and state government to allow our students write their first semester exam which is coming up this week. Inability to sit for the examinations means automatic spill over and other vices will spill out of this. Kindly give the students a grace till second semester to meet up with the payment.
