The Kogi state governor, Captain Idris Wada on Monday said there was no move to expel Alhaji Jibrin Isah Echocho from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
This was contained in a press statement issued from the office of the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Richard Elesho noted that the story is completely untrue and a figment of the warped imagination of the source.
He mentioned that one Phrank Shuaibu, a supporter of Echocho and apparently the fabricator of the story, accused Kogi State Governor, Idris Wada of being the mastermind of the plot.
According to him, Shuaibu alleged that at a zonal meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Anyigba where the so called plot was hatched, Gov. Wada complained that “the state has no money now because the cases in court against his government have drained the state’s resources”
He stressed that Shuaibu’s profile as a canon on the loose is well known by the Nigerian public. So, “no one is really surprised at his lies and sarcastic remarks about the person and the office of the Kogi State governor.
But, to say the least, the story is completely untrue and a figment of the warped imagination of the source”.
His words “Yes, it is true that as leader of the party in the state, the Governor attended a zonal meeting of the party. But, the expulsion of Echocho or anybody for that matter was not part of the agenda of the meeting the governor attended.
“As the father of all in the State, Governor Wada does not harbor grudges against Echocho.
“The man contested the primaries and the people rejected him at the polls. He proceeded to the courts. And the judges
threw out his petitions.
“He is invited to join the progressive team for the transformation of the fatherland. This is the path of honor opened to him.
“Governor Wada is a God fearing and incorruptable leader who puts public interest above narrow and parochial considerations.
The complaints accredited to him about court cases draining the scarce resources of the state is therefore completely untrue.
“In both his private and public engagements, Governor Wada’s undertakings to live above board has never been in doubt. And, in any case the governor has been vindicated against all his accusers in the courts and he holds the
judiciary in high esteem.
“As they have failed in their previous schemes, so will they also fail in this.
Governor Wada and his team are too focused to be distracted.
