Technical Adviser of Prisons FC, Brown Zibiri, has admitted that his deserved to lose in the Week 23 encounter with Kogi United FC in Lokoja on Saturday.
The home team had edged the visiting side 3-2 in the entertaining game which saw the crowd yell in excitement.
“Kogi United players showed tremendous maturity in the match and I think that gave them the advantage,” Zibiri, whose team is at the log’s bottom, said hours after the fixture which has now put the Wada Boys on 38 points and in cruise control towards securing a ticket to the Nigeria Premier League next season.
“Nonetheless, the performance of my boys gave me hope that we can still avoid the drop at the end of the season,” he added.
Kogi Coach, Abdullahi Biffo, however blamed his wards for what he called needless complacency after taking a two-goal lead before increasingly the tally, only to concede two goals late on as the visitors threatened to level scores.
“Perhaps, my boys had underrated the Prisons’ team. But I am happy we protected the maximum points that we needed,” Biffo said.
United will next meet FRSC FC in Keffi on Saturday as the battle for promotion in the NNL intensifies.
