Kogi United’s striker, Odeyemi Ebenezer has assured his side will finish the Nigeria National League, NNL season with a comfortable victory against Spotlight FC in Katisna.
The 2013/2014 NNL season will come to an end this weekend with Week 30 matches to be played simultaneously across the country.
Kogi United who have garnered 46 points from 29 matches will play Spotlight on Saturday.
The Confluence State club are sitting comfortable in top half of the Group A table without threat of going down at the end of final game.
Kogi United recorded one of their heaviest victories against Spotlight FC this season. The reverse fixture ended 5-1 for Kogi United where five different players scored for the Wada Boys including Ebenezer in Lokoja.
The former Illa FC and Prime FC striker who have scored nine goals for Kogi United, making him the club’s joint top scorer with Aminu Abdulkadir said the team has resolved to wrap up their near perfect season victoriously irrespective of the venue on Saturday.
“We want to end the season well, we will play Spotlight with all our energy, that is out target, we are going to play them as we’ve always play with determination and focus and we believe we can get something from there.
“We would prove to them that our first leg victory wasn’t a fluke, we showed great determination then and we will show that again, we know it won’t be that easy as they are playing at home, but that will not deter us to play our normal game,” Ebenezer said.
Kogi United finished last season’s campaign at home with similar encounter against Spotlight which ended 1-1 apiece and Ebenezer noted that his side can even much better result in Katsina on Saturday.
“Its funny we are having this similar game with what happened last season, it wasn’t a good experience then as we were denied a victorious ending, that’s what gives us confidence that we can do more than that in Katsina.”
