Politics according to Bismarck, is not an exact science but rather the art of possibility. To Adolf Hitler, “politics is history in making.”
From the above definitions of politics, I believe it is the policies we make that promotes or demotes the welfare of all members of the society.
To explain more on politics based on Hitler’s standpoint, politics is the melee for existence which man is the captain of this cause.
As it is generally believed that the Constitution and the rule of law are supreme in the land, the reverse is the case in Africa, Nigeria vaguely, the Constitution has become subject to the big children.
The rule of law has ceased to be, there is no egalitarianism before the law, the tillers of the state affairs have placed themselves beyond the law or better still, equivalent to the law, they have made their drives and securities the Constitution.
When one hallucinate on to the early days of Nigeria’s independence, one will be forced to question the degree of her political maturity, philosophy, broadmindedness, understanding and declining standard of chastisement.
Politics is an avenue for individual to unleash their intellectual and leadership potentials on issues affecting the society.
Rear is the case as of today as the political platform has come to be an avenue to hoard mammon, dough public fund at the expense of the people.
The Nigerian politics can be denoted to politics of rancor where there is feud amid politicians and political parties.
In a multiparty country like Nigeria, opposition parties who are supposed to offer constructive criticism and act as supervisory body of the people to the government of the day are horde erratics and bungling dogmatics whose get-up-and-go are disproportionate.
Money politics has become the order of the day and the practice is receiving great followership on daily basis. They give money to slyly buy the show-of-hands of the electorate and the voters obliviously auction their votes to the highest bidder, deceitfully supposing that is the paramount of what they expect from their leaders.
The foremost delinquent with money politics is that politicians have the habit of spending afore election and anticipate returns upon winning and profits before their tenure expires.
Money politics affects the political and all round development of the country as people take politics as an investment and not an avenue to felicitate progressive development.
Nigerian politics has instigated ethnocentricism in the country, thus placing the acquitted populace into human and political servitude as some areas are marginalized for their political,religious and ethnic affiliations which results to uneven development of the country.
As the country is at the threshold of election come 2019, I plead to you my fellow Nigerians, it is time to work collectively for the progress of our fatherland, lets put aside our differences and vote based on charisma and meritocracy.
