In new years messages sent to Kogi Reports, several public office holders and eminent personalities felicitated with the people of Kogi state, preaching peace, unity and hope.
The Commissioner For Works and Housing, Engr. Abubakar Ohere, in his message, urged Kogites to use the new year to renew their commitment to collective prosperity, growth and development by contributing more in building state and shunning all forms of negative tendencies.
“As Kogites our unique strengths and characters to overcome our challenges collectively have never been in doubt, what we need now more than ever is to galvanise these unique qualities for the good of all as permissible under a democratic set up.
“My commitment in this new year is to help ensure that Kogi State will rise again and that the hopes of all Kogites become a reality,” he said.
Engr. Ohere, further enjoined Kogites to review and renew their resolve and commitment to the unity and progress of Kogi State.
He expressed confidence in efforts put in place by the administration of Gov. Yahaya Adoza Bello to continue to impact positively on the lives of the people of Kogi State.
In his message, the Acting Rector, Kogi State Polytechnic, Dr Salisu Ogbo Usman, urges all staff, students and the immediate Polytechnic community to use the occasion of the New Year to shy away from all anti-social activities and be law-abiding citizens of the country.
He assured that the management will continue in the drive to making the Polytechnic regain its reputable status in the comity of higher institutions in the country.
“I congratulate and commend the people of the State and other Nigerians for their commitment and perseverance in carrying out your lawful activities in the passing year, despite its unique challenges.
“It is our hope and prayer that renewed efforts should be made by everyone to support government at all levels to deliver more dividends of democracy in the coming years.
“The year 2020 has been very eventful with many unexpected challenges, but it pleases God Almighty in His mercies and benevolence to count us worthy to be alive to celebrate the year 2021.
“I also applaud the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, for his continued commitment to lifting the standard of education in the State, I also thank the students, staff, and the entire Polytechnic community for their support in rebranding the institution. I will also like to thank His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, and members of his cabinet for their unflinching support to the educational sector which has rubbed on Kogi State Polytechnic in so many ways, and we promise to make him proud with our drive to change the face of the institution positively.
“I therefore call for more support from stakeholders to attain the lofty height,” he said.
He called on all stakeholders to unite and instill a culture of tranquillity and justice for the collective development of the Polytechnic.
In a similar message, the Vice-Chairlady, Okene local government council, Hon. Hajia Bilkisu Aliyu expressed optimism that despite the challenges and difficulties of 2020, the new year would be fulfilling if governments at all levels make the people the centre point of its policies and programmes.
She acknowledged the resilience, commitment and perseverance of citizens in the midst of socioeconomic and political difficulties in 2020 and urged them to reignite their undying spirit and enter 2021 with vigor and hope.
She expressed confidence in efforts put in place by the administration of Alh. Yahaya Bello, the Executive Governor of Kogi State to continue to impact positively on the lives of the people of Kogi State.
According to her, the government of Alh. Yahaya Adoza Bello has left no stone unturned in developing the state and improving on the lives of the people, most especially women and he however assured the people that the new year will be greater in all ramifications.
The Galadima of Ankpa Kingdom, Prince Yakub Yakub, in his new year message, called on his people and the entire people of the state to remain peaceful and united to the cause of developing the state irrespective of ethnic or political party differences.
The young Prince prayed for the unity and peace in the state, adding that these are tasks all stakeholders must put into consideration in the new year.
“We can only have a sustainable developmental state if only we are peaceful and united.
“I am very optimistic that if we capture the support of our youths, leaders, the legislature, the judiciary, the civil service, government appointees, agencies of government, both at the federal and the state levels, then the peace and unity we seek will be lying at our abode.”
