The Etsu Lokoja, HRH Emmanuel Akamisoko Dauda-Shelika, Nyamkpa IV, has extended his warmest greetings and best wishes to the people of Kogi State and Nigeria at large as the world celebrate the New Year.
Dauda-Shelika in his new year statement, made available to Journalists on Thursday in Lokoja, congratulated everyone for the privilege to witness the birth of the year 2025, and prayed that the incoming year would bring peace, prosperity, and joy.
The royal father urged the people to join hand and support the Government of His Excellency, Gov. Ahmed Usman Ododo, and the Executive Chairman of Lokoja Local Government Council, Hon. Abdullahi Adamu.
“It is with great delight and optimism that I Congratulate everyone of us for the privilege to witness the birth of the year 2025 considering the trials and pains that was common to all across the nation under different circumstances in 2024. Thank God we survived and are here together in one piece and at peace.
“While there are so much we can learn from the past, I wish to encourage everyone of us not to dwell on the past but be forward looking trusting God for a brighter, more peaceful and prosperous year 2025.
“Wishes are not horses. We must all therefore be determined to commit ourselves to building a better and prosperous society of our dreams as one people devoid of rancour or violence.
“We must join hands with the Government of His Excellency, Alh Ahmed Usman Ododo, the indefatigable Governor of Kogi State and the dynamic Executive Chairman of Lokoja Local Government Council, Hon. Abdullahi Adamu, for our collective good,” he said.
The monarch encouraged the people to be positive and optimistic, assuring that year 2025 would be a better year for all.
Dauda Shelika added: “As we look forward to the new year, I urge you all to remain committed to the values of hard work, honesty, and respect for one another. Let us continue to work together to build a stronger, more prosperous, and more peaceful society.
“I encourage us to be positive and optimistic. The year 2025 shall be a better year for all of us.
“I wish to use this medium to appeal to Government to do more in creating enabling environment for citizens across board to freely contribute to nation building.
“Security of lives and properties, the economy, food security, health care, infrastructural development among others should gain priority attention of Government at all levels.
“As we all forge ahead in faith, Lokoja, Kogi and Nigeria would be a happier and more prosperous destination this year 2025.
“And to the government and people of Nigeria, I wish you all a happy and prosperous new year. May our nation continue to grow in unity, strength, and prosperity.
“Once again, Congratulations! Happy New Year to us all!!
