Idealism is like a castle in the air if it is not based on a solid foundation of social and political realism.
Ladies and gentlemen, my fellow youth, citizens of this great state, Kogi. I have today, not just to speak on our political ideology that characterise on hatred, religion and ethnicity that are now threatening democracy in our state.
Our state have gone through diverse trials and still on going, there is need to reawaken the consciousness of our political leaders as a matter of urgency to create a platform where the youths can be called together for orientation and transformation. It appears that illegal behaviour and crime is the way out of their predicament which is dangerous and against what we stands for as a people. The state government can organize a conference for the youth to boast their moral also to let them see the implication of their decisions either good or bad.
I’m afraid of the set of youth that will take over the mantle of leadership if all we parade now are youth who rejoice and seek his fellow citizens death. Our gloating over another’s failure shows that we are yet to be united in fighting for our future.
As they say, the present is the indicator of tomorrow. I Speak again because the rate at which our youth have been brainwashed and introduced to system of politics that is capable of shorting down democracy in the state is devastating. The rate at which assassination cases are been reported is alarming. I am ashamed when our teaming youth who supposed to be demanding for security and accountability and good governance are been use to commit hilarious crime in the state.
Six of them were paraded in Lokoja by Nigeria Police Force last week in connection with Dino assassination saga.
It’s amazing, even disappointed, that leaders who suppose to be emulated by the youths are the one supporting such a system for their selfish interest.
Our leaders have forgotten so soon how our fathers and hero’s craved for the creation of kogi state. They have forgotten the love between the West (Okun), East (Igala) and the Central (Ebira) in those days. “It only a bastard whose mind have been blunted and crumble trample on his father’s legacy for his selfish political interest and cause hatred among the people.” I call on our political leaders across the state, if you cannot build on the legacy of our hero’s don’t abuse it.
The foundation of our democracy have been tempered with by new crumb of radical politicians who’s agenda is to steal, kill and to destroy.
Their destiny is to bankrupt the people without any form of shame and with the look at their body language they are dancing to the drum beat of their destiny.
They are desperadoes, clinging to power not for the good of the community or for the people but for their selfish interest and to breed more thugs and hoodlums that will be threatening the peace of the society.
He who use power to build a people will live among his people in peace but he who use power to raise and breed more thugs in the state will live in fear and in threat; why? Because the table will turnaround. It’s a question of time and the evil men do will hunt them.
No wonder Charles Caleb Colton says *”The excess of our youth are checks written against our age and they are payable with interest in thirty years later.”* This is the reason I cannot be party to any crook means for the sake of power or politics.
You can’t build a great building on a weak foundation. You must have a solid foundation if you’re going to have a strong superstructure.
His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the executive governor of Kogi state. You have demonstrated leadership which distinguished you from the past administration which activities characterised by injustice, lack of equity and fairness, corruption was the order of the day, insecurity and decay of infrastructures, broken down of institutions ETC.
The manner which you selected your team without biased have score you in the areas of justice and equity which have never been experience in the history of Kogi state despite the civil servant salary saga. I salute you sir as you ensure the civil servant get over this awaiting salary palava. The civil servant command power in the society and they demand respect, dignity and quality welfare from the government. This is their constitutional right.
I want you sir, to as a matter of urgency to look back the trail of the vision of our forefathers, which born out to have a state govern by justice, fairness and equity, in which the people love one another without any measure of discrimination. A state where the government and the governed are free to express themselves without fear of humiliation or threat. A state where equal opportunity is given to all regardless of language or who your father is, or where your mother come from.
As a leader, build on this regardless of what may have transpired in the past that created this chamber of hatred, pain, grievances among other things. A mansion where reconciliation for peace, unity and love can be display for benefit of the citizens and the state should be reconstructed by you before your administration phase out.
God does not consult your past to construct your future so drop every political display in the past and beckon to those that are needed in pursuance of progress and unity in the state. This is how your work and leadership in the state can be noticed and appreciated for.
His Excellency GYB, You need a really solid foundation of political relationship with the electorates across the state to keep you where you need to be in 2019, your Aides and CTC may not be enough because some of them lag manners and have since lost focus. They have no innovative ideas to support your New Direction mantra, rather, what they can squeeze out of this government and wait for 2019. You must be smart enough to outsmart these parasites in your administrations.
We have before us examples, His Excellency, president Muhammadu Buhari, We must remember how long it required him to defeat the PDP. He built first, relationships with men who ordinarily should not be seen with him because of their questionable characters.
Only to the extent that men desire peace and brotherhood can the world be made better. No peace temporarily obtained, will be permanent, whether to individuals or nations or states, unless it is built upon the solid foundation of eternal principle.
His Excellency, we cannot have A New Direction if it does not affect our education sectors. To lay a proper foundation for a New Kogi State Education must be up to date.
Education is not only a tool for development – individual, community and the nation. It is the foundation for our future. It is empowerment to make choices and emboldens the youth to chase their dreams. Nita Ambani
We must begin now to engage our youths who have lost hope in education, if we don’t, then expect the unexpected because an idle heart is the devil work shop.
We have a powerful potential in our youth, and we must have the courage to change old ideas and practices so that we may direct their power toward good ends.
On the mountains of truth you can never climb in vain: either you will reach a point higher up today, or you will be training your powers so that you will be able to climb higher tomorrow – Friedrich
I have chosen to speak the truth and follow the path regardless of who care to listen, someday, soon you will be able recall and say “OGO’OGU SAID IT”
In conclusion, ladies and gentlemen, my fellow patriotic youths of Kogi state, let come together to channel our course and redefine our purpose in politics. Shun crime, discard thugry and reject being use negatively by wicked and visionless leaders who want to cover their weakness with the use of violence.
Bullet is not the answer to our problem in the state but ideas and determination to support Good governance is.
A good youth ought to have a fear of God, to be subject to his parents, to give honor to his elders, to preserve his purity; to shun crime; he ought not to despise humility, but should love forbearance and modesty.
All these are an ornament to youthful years – Saint Ambrose.
Youth it is time we locate the bearing of good governance, accountability, transparency and moral life and follow suit.
In my lifetime Kogi State will flourish!
God Bless You
God Bless Kogi State
God Bless Nigeria
