New Commander 12 Brigade Visits Kogi Monarchs, Reaffirms Commitment to Adequate Security

The commander12 Brigade, Brigadier General Isang Akpaumontia, has paid courtesy visits to two Kogi paramount rulers: the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, HRM Dr. Ado Ibrahim; and Obaro of Kabba, His Royal Majesty, Oba Solomon Oladele Owoniyi at their Palaces in Okene and Kabba respectively.

In his separate remarks at the two Palaces, General Akpaumontia, said the familiarization tour was an  opportunity to discuss critical issues with stakeholders, institutions, especially traditional rulers within Kogi State.

According to the Brigade Commander,  ‘security is a collective responsibility’, and therefore assured the good people of Kogi State of his resolve  to ensure peace is maintained in Kogi at all times.

General Akpaumontia further disclosed that his visit was to also to pay homage to the monarchs as a mark of respect as well as to seek for royal blessings and prayers while discharging his duties. 

In his response in Okene, the Ohinoyi appreciated the presence of the Nigerian Army in Ebira land saying that it had drastically reduced the terrorism and other social vices. 

The traditional ruler expressed his desire and readiness to support, collaborate and synergize with the Nigerain Army.

In his response in Kabba, the Obaro of Kabba, said that since  the establishment of the military presence in Kabba, there have been peace as spate of kidnapping had reduced drastically.

He urged the Brigade Commander to also maintain continued high cordial relationship with the relevant stakeholders and the people.

Both paramount rulers expressed their gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Farouk Yahaya, for the august visit and for the honour bestowed on them. 

The highlight of the visits was the presentation of souvenirs and gift items to the monarchs in line with the tradition of the palace and a group photograph.
