The Kogi State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency(NDLEA) on Wednesday, impounded articulated lorry with 104 bags of suspected Indian Hemp weighing over 978 kilogrammes.
The lorry with registration number Edo RRU 139 XA was intercepted on Okene-Auchi road.
Also, two suspected dealers in Indian Hemp, were arrested with over 124 bag of the drugs weighing 1125,7 kilogrammes.
The State Commander of NDLEA, Alhaji Idris Mohammed Bello told newsmen while conducting them round the lorry, and suspected Indian Hemp, at the Ajaokuta Area Office of the command
He explained that the operatives of the command during routine patrol, stopped the driver of the lorry, who refused to stop while the men gave the driver a hot chase, adding that the driver sensing trouble stopped and abandoned the vehicle mid-way and ran into the bush.
The NDLEA men he said, later arrested two suspected Osebete Emmanuel and Ifeanyi Orji on Lokoja- Abuja highway, who were in possession of 124 bags of Cannabis Sativa concealed in false compartment in another articulated lorry with Nassarawa vehicle registration.
Also paraded on Wednesday, was a 32-year-old housewife, Biriki Abdullahi, caught with 800 grammes of India Hemp but she said it belonged to her husband now at large.
She lamented that she was not aware that her husband was into such illicit business, adding that since her arrest she had not seen her husband just as she stated that their three children were with her.
