NDE Flags Off Community-Based Training Scheme in Kogi

As part of its efforts to take the fight against unemployment to the grassroots, National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has commenced a 3-months training tagged “Community-Based Business Training Scheme“(CBBTS) for unemployed youths in Isanlu community, Yagba East local government area of Kogi state.

At the flag-off ceremony in Isanlu on Saturday, Director General of NDE, Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, said during the programme was designed to train youths in marketable skills prevalent in the community for a period of 3 months.

Fikpo, who was represented by the Kogi State Coordinator, Mr Ibidun Abiodun Amos, stated that the objective of the programme is to add value to the community socially and economically while creating jobs through the training and establishment of businesses.

According to him, 20 participants were recruited in Isanlu community in two skills leather works and fashion design.

Earlier in his welcome address, the HOD of Special Public Works (SPW) department, Mr. Toyin Ajibade charged participants to take full advantage of the opportunity for jobs.

The Director of SPW Department, Mrs Olaomi Roselyn Sylvia stated that graduate trainees would be given Basic Business Training (BBT) and loan as empowerment package and starter packs as an exit strategy.

The traditional leader, Agbana of Isanlu Land, HRH Dr. Moses Babatunde Etombi, represented by Oba Faniyi Olusegun, charged participants to remain good ambassadors of the community.
