The member representing Lokoja 2 Constituency in Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon Idris Ndako, has called for unity among all religions and ethnic groups in the state.
Hon. Ndako said what the state and the country needed now is peace and unity to enable development thrive as no development can take place in an atmosphere punctured by anarchy.
The lawmaker made the appeal at his Isegba Felele residence on Friday while donating bags of rice and other food items to Muslim community in Lokoja local government area.
Hon. Ndako, while presenting the food items the ten wards, community leaders and organizations, stated that the gesture was to felicitate with the Muslims as they mark this year’s Eid el Fitir festival.
He commended the people his constituency for conducting themselves peacefully and enjoined them to promote the existing cordial relationship with the people, as Eid el fitir is a festival that gives priority recognition and strict adherence to the tenets of Islam, particularly those virtues that lay premium of fasting, love, peace, tolerance and obedience to God.
On the socio-political situation in the country, the lawmaker posited that God loves Nigeria and expressed the hope that the country would come out of its numerous problems unscathed and urged Nigerians to pray for the government of the day.
He urged youths to empower themselves through the skill acquisition programme and appealed to wealthy individuals to come to the aid of the less privileged in the society, especially during this economic hardship.
He said he will pursue bills and partner relevant stakeholders in finding solution to the inadequate infrastructural amenities in his constituency.
The lawmaker who recently celebrated his three years in office admonished the people of his constituency to remain patient as efforts is been made to extend the dividends of democracy as soon as their constituency project fund is release by the executive.
