The National Boundary Commission (NBC) has affirmed that Ette Community falls within the administrative jurisdiction of Kogi State.
This puts to rest the decades old boundary issue between Enugu and Kogi State as it relates to Ette community.
In a letter dated 7th December 2025, the National Boundary Commission stated that a map on the Enugu and Kogi interstate boundary alignment forwarded to the States on the 14th of July 2025, puts Ette Community within Kogi State’s administrative jurisdiction.
The National Boundary Commission asked the Enugu State Government to suspend all activities of land encroachment, parcellation, fencing of land and the proposed chieftaincy coronation scheduled on 29th December 2025.
The National Boundary Commission urged the Kogi State Government to take immediate necessary steps to ensure the security and wellbeing of Ette Community.
This was confirmed by the Executive Chairman of Igbo-Eze North LGA in a meeting with his close aides on the 17th of December 2025. He instructed that all activities led by Enugu State should seize in Ette in line with the directives from the National Boundary Commission. He stated that as a responsible government, Enugu State is aligned with the directives of the NBC which is the body saddled with the responsibility to determine boundaries between states. He urged all his aides to adhere strictly to the directive.
