Yusuf Adeyanju Yisau Esq., a comrade,  seasoned banker, and founder / Co-ordinator of Prince Akin Ojumoro Network (PAKON) hails from Ayegunle Gbede, Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State. He spoke with Kogireports.com on the forthcoming National Conference and other issues.

??Can you tell us little about your educational background?

??Yes, I attended Ahmadiyya Primary School, Ayegunle Gbede between 1992-1997 where I bagged my First School Leaving Certificate, I later went to Ijumu Local Government Secondary School, Ayegunle Gbede where I bagged my Senior Secondary School Certificate between 1997-2003. Thereafter, I went to Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja where I bagged National Diploma and Higher National Diploma in Secretarial Studies and Office Technology & Management in the year 2008 & 2011 respectively with Upper Credit Division. I did my one year compusory National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) at Ubibia High School, Ubibia, Bende Local Government Area of Abia State with Batch ‘A’ 2013.

??What is your view about the forthcoming National Conference?

It is a welcome development as far as I am concerned because is a long overdue programme. The forthcoming conference is just like any other conferences across the world in the past like Lagos Conference, National Political Reform Conference, Berlin Conference, London Conference, etc where people gathered and discuss issues that affect their people, political system, economy, region, state etc. Therefore, I urge President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to as matter of necessity support the said conference wholeheartedly and make sure that the implementation of the said conference is achieved after the approval of the National Assembly as promised.

Do you think Okun People will participate in the said conference?

?I don’t know yet because I still find it difficult to know Okun Nation stand or stance till date because Okun Development Association that is supposed to speak for us is no where to be found today. Anyway, I think we will participate.

??Then, what is Okun Nation agenda?

?I don’t know. These are issues that we suppose to sit down on a round table and discuss as a nation. I think Okun people suppose to have a genuine agenda towards this very important national debate like other tribes since the scope of this very conference will cover Fiscal Federalism, Corruption, Creation of Local Government and Autonomy, Regionalism, State Policing, Citizenship, Electoral Reform etc. I remember vividly that during the abortive National Political Reform Conference organized by Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’s led-government in the year 2006, Okun Nation were fully represented directly or indirectly because we’ve more than five (5) Okun man that participated then viz Chief Emmanuel Otitoju ( former Okun Development Association National President) and General David Medaiyese Jemibewon (Kogi West Delegate), Senator Smart Adeyemi (Nigeria Union of Journalist), Chief Bayo Ojo (SAN), (Nigeria Bar Association), Comrade Miliki Idris Abdul (Civil Society Organisation) etc and they were able to represent Okun interest very well in the area of Boundary Re-Adjustment, Creation of Okun State, Creation of more Local Government in Okunland etc. Although, we were unable to achieve the afore-mentioned agenda as a result of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’s selfish political interest tagged “Third Term Agenda” but they made positive moves and/or impacts.

??What is your advice to Okun people over this?

?Let the concerned Okun Obas like Obaro of Kabba, Oba Michael Olobayo, JP, Olujumu of Ijumu Kingdom, Oba Jerome Sumonu, JP etc, political leaders like Senator Smart Adeyemi, General David Medaiyese Jemibewon, Hon. Hassan Salau, Chief Bayo Ojo, Prince Olusola Akanmode,  Arch. Salman Idris, Chief Jide Omokore, Arch. Yomi Awoniyi, Prince Akin Ojumoro, Olumoko Vincent Bayo ( LABO ), Hon. Daniel Dino Melaye, Alhaji Ganiyu Obatoyinbo, Hon. Lateef Haruna, Hon. Samuel Abiodun Ojo, Hon. Aro Samuel Bamidele, Hon. Tajudeen Ayo Yusuf, Hon. Sunday Karimi, Chief Clearence Olafemi, Alhaji Imran Idris, Hon. Funsho Olumoko, Hon. Solomon Taiye Asaju, Prince Rotimi Obadofin, Barr. Tunde Ayeni etc, opinion leaders like Chief Macaulley Ajiboye, Alhaja Kuburat Yakubu, Chief Emmanuel Otitoju, Chief J O Nihi, Chief ( Gen.) G O S Oshanupin, Comrade Nihi Oladele John, Chief J O Folorunsho, Comrade Alonge Isreal Femi, Chief Seth Esan Olorunyomi, Comrade Ismail Adesayo Yahaya, Comrade Raji Olusegun Tajudeen,  etc come together as a matter of urgency and discuss Okun issue as regard the said proposed National Conference now or never.

??On the suspension of Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, your stance?

?I think President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is exercising his right as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria that says that he (Jonathan) can hire and fire anybody including Sanusi Lamido Sanusi anytime. Secondly, although Sanusi Lamido Sanusi’s suspension is a harsh decision but I can tell you authoritatively that he (Sanusi Lamido Sanusi) deserve it because he (Sanusi Lamido Sanusi) has never been sincere with Nigerians. According to the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN) pronouncement and statement after their investigation, one can say Sanusi Lamido Sanusi is a corrupt Nigerian like any other person. However, I want to advice the National Assembly to reject the approval of Godwin Emefiele’s nomination till the end of  Sanusi Lamido Sanusi’s tenure and let  Sanusi Lamido Sanusi continue his suspension until he’s not guilty and responsible for some of his alleged wrongdoings and let Mrs. Sarah Alade continue as Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor but in acting capacity till further notice. Lastly, I want Sanusi Lamido Sanusi to challenge President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s decision in the court of law so that we can learn more about our constitution.

??Your advice to Nigerians over the forthcoming National Conference.

??I want to advice all the targeted Nigerians that will participate in the said national conference to put their personal interest aside and fight for national interest so that we can achieve together as a nation. I also wish you successful deliberation. Peace.
