The five days program featured participants from Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Local Government Areas with a high powerful delegation from the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking In Persons (NAPTIP).

Declaring the sensitisation programme open, the Deputy House Leader who has over time proven to be an advocate of gender equity, ably represented by his Senior Legislative Aide, Hon Okeme Emmanuel noted that sexual and gender based violence are in most cases treated as norm with women as victims and hence, the justification for involving men who are guilty of most charges.

The Guest Lecturers, Mr Thomas Adewale, Mr David Krombet and Mr Daniel Adonuja spoke intensively on Human Trafficking/Trafficking on Persons, Sexual and Gender Based Violence as well as NAPTIP and Its Primary Roles respectively.

Earlier in her opening remarks, the Director General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking In Persons — Naptip Nigeria, Ms. Binta L. Adamu Bello represented by Mr Aliyu Felix, commended the Federal Lawmaker for the initiative which she described as a noble.

Ms. Binta said sexual harassment and other related vices are gross misconducts which has severe punishments backed by law but failure of victims to speak out has over time made many perpetrators to go unpunished adding that prevention is better than cure.

It can be recalled that in the past two months, Constituents of Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Federal Constituency of Kogi State have been trained in numerous trades, different entrepreneurship skills and capacity building programs facilitated by Rt.
