History repeats itself on Monday, 30th December,2013 as the annual beauty contest organized by the leadership of National Association Of Okun Students saw the light of the day.

The program which was peacefully conducted at Ekirin-Ade Multipurpose Hall had in attendance highly placed personalities and past students and youth leaders across Okun land. After what could be adjudged as the most peaceful and united beauty contest in the history of Okun, Miss Olubiyo Abimbola Ruth emerged the winner of the contest and subsequently was crowned the Miss Okun 2014.

Miss Olubiyo Abimbola Ruth, a Business Administration student of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja while addressing the audience after she was crowned, amidst tears she gave her appreciation for the rare privilege and opportunity given to her to showcase her talent and serve as a role model to Okun upcoming ladies.

She promised to always justify the confidence repose on her throughout her stay in office while also thanking her numerous supporters.

In a statement of gratitude by the National President, Comrade Adeyemi Gbenga Emmanuel, he reaffirmed the union commitment to always show good leadership at all levels. Also thanking the attendees for honoring the students cause by coming out in large numbers to be part of the history making event. He also gave his appreciation to Ekinrin-Ade students union for their peaceful conduct throughout the event. “Ekinrin-Ade youths have shown other communities how to play host to such big event in Okun land, their peaceful conduct as host to the event is exemplary”, he said. While urging them to continue, he also wish Miss Olobiyo Abimbola Ruth, the Miss Okun a successful tenure as Miss Okun 2014.
