Aftermath of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) elections held in Uyo, there arose two factions one led by Prince Manfien and the other, held closely by the ruling peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), is led by Yinka Gbadebo.

??The factions held on to their geographical stronghold as Yinka Gbadebo popularly known as Ayefele held on to his south west and South South and a part of the south east of the nation.

Prince Manfien, from Plateau state controls the northern region and substantial part of the institutions in the west. This struggle for dominance in NANS leadership is on-going as the two factions deploys all strategies to out-do the other.

??The immediate  past NANS president, Dauda Mohammed aka Caponne is from the University of Jos and a comrade in the camp of Yinka Gbadebo. Expectedly, he should be strong to bring the faction to town to address the state through the University of Jos FM radio station. Hearing of the scheme by the Jos-born Prince Manfien led NANS Faction, he reportedly unleashed terror on Yinka Gbadebo’s Convoy in an undisclosed hotel in Jos on their arrival in Jos in the struggle for control of the students structure.

?The aftermath of the violence last week led to the destruction of the official car of Yinka Gbadebo and several people injured including the immediate past NANS president, Dauda Mohammed.

??They promptly reported the incident at the police station. As at the time of the incident; reports had it that the visitors were subdued and embarrassed by the violent attack and they quickly started mobilization for revenge

??In the ensuing violence, the three phones of the erstwhile NANS president was seized by the attackers.

?They actually had their revenge mission uploaded as the former NANS president in company of three “men” namely Omakwu, Misty & Asman went to the house of Dotun Ajulo – the vice President National Affairs and attacked him.

??Dotun Ajulo is 500 level Law students in the University of Jos and he h?He belongs to Prince Manfien Nans faction

??He escaped after he was unable to be subdued by gunshots allegedly from the immediate past president of NANS

?As at sunday morning, the whereabouts of the two factional presidents is unknown and security agencies in Jos are really not having it good. Inspite of the enormous task in restoring lasting peace to Jos; they are confronted with the task of restoring normalcy to a Students body that has lost its ideals to Money and sold out differently in two factions – PDP vs. APC.

On saturday, the Vice-President, National Affairs, Comrade Dotun Ajulo was arrested in morning by operatives of the Plateau State State Security Services.  He has been held incommunicado by the Plateau State SSS. In our emerging democracy, any restraint on the liberty of one should be condemned by all. NANS is not PDP. NANS must be independent from governmental interference & control.
