The National Association of Lokoja Local Government Students (NALLGS) has called on parents and guardians to discipline their wards as charity they say begins at home.
According to the President of NALLGS, Comrade Alibest Mayaki, the call became necessary after the student body observed that the rate of lateness by pupils of secondary schools around Lokoja is becoming alarming.
He stated that principals of various high schools were visited by the leadership of the association to confirm what the possible cause is.
Mayaki recalled that during the visit to the principal of Bishop Delisle College, Lokoja, the principal said: “the actual cause is from the parents and guardians of the pupils who don’t discipline their wards to go to school early and not be late.”
She added that “…I wish the association can join us in curtailing this issue”.
The leadership of the association therefore called on parents and guardians to ensure their wards goes to school early.
Mayaki stated that in the association’s quest for better education at all levels, the senate of the association ably led by Comrade Abdullateef Ibrahim will be constituting a ‘Lokoja Pupils Parliament’ where it will draw observations on issues affecting primary and secondary school education in Lokoja LGA and Kogi state at large.
He noted that NALLGS will work in synergy with government and other partners in education to proffer solutions that will help increase the standard of education in the local government and Kogi state at large.
