NAKOSS: Presidential Aspirants Decry Delay in Elections

A constitutional crisis with “regrettable consequences” may be brewing at the headquarters of the National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS). Should urgent efforts to shunned, for the first time since its creation, NAKOSS may be heading for illegality and avoidable leadership vacuum “with imminent dire consequences.” 

In a communique issues on 30th January, 2020 after a meeting of Presidential Aspirants of the association at the NAKOSS National Secretariat Lokoja which was convened by the National President of Igala Student Association, Comr. Ocheni Christian Odiba “to discuss issues related to the pending NAKOSS Convention/Election”, the aspirants resolved that, “the office of the National Presidency be zoned to Kogi East.” 

They also demanded to be clearly told “the reason(s) why the NAKOSS National Secretariat has refused to conduct the election.

Parts of the communique also stated that “Should urgent efforts to remedy the situation be jettisoned, for the first time since its creation, NAKOSS may be heading for illegality and unavoidable leadership vacuum with imminent dire consequences due to the failure of the national secretariat to conduct elections.

“That, within 72hours, we demand the Secretariat to call a meeting to clarify issues and give us the date for the election in order to avoid further misleading of Kogi state students.” 

Some of the presidential aspirants present at the meeting included: Shaibu Enyojo Stephen, Salihu Lukman, Alex Agaji an and Anslem Victory O.

The National President of NAKOSS Comr. Moses Omeiza Troy also attended the meeting.
