Senator representing Kogi Central, Barr. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has cried out that her phone number and voice have been allegedly cloned by individuals orchestrating a vicious smear campaign against her.
In a statement issued by by her media office in Abuja on Wednesday, Senator Natasha said these malicious actors are not only impersonating her number but have also gone as far as cloning her voice, all in an effort to deceive, discredit, diminish her public image and incite Nigerians against her person.
According to the statement, over the past few days, multiple individuals from various parts of the country have reported receiving calls from what appears to be her number.
“Many claimed they heard her voice. Some even swore it was her. Shockingly, even her own mother was briefly convinced. But the truth is, Senator Natasha did not make those calls.
“She has confirmed to close allies and those who reached out for clarification that she has long abandoned that particular phone number. Any number currently calling or messaging people in her name is a fake, and cloned line. The voice you hear is not hers—it is the product of sophisticated audio simulation, crafted specifically to deceive the public.
“It is a fabrication, a tool of mischief, and part of a calculated political attack meant to tarnish her image. A formal petition has already been submitted to the police. However, there has been no action, no investigation, no word. It’s still silence as usual,” the statement read.
The media office urged the general public to be cautious of this, adding that they should disregard any call or voice note claiming to be Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, especially from her former number.
She alleged that more fake audio recordings are being released into the public space.
“Just yesterday, a new voice note emerged from one Prof. Mgbeke also known as Dr. Sandra Duru, yet another attempt to confuse the public and tarnish the image of Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan.
“This new attempt is a desperate, evil strategy designed to manipulate public perception and stop her rise. This is not just a personal attack against Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, it is meant to change the narrative and dent her image in the eyes of the public.
“As her influence grows amidst the storms, her enemies grow more desperate and devise criminal tactics to try and break her spirit, diminish her image and public acceptance.
“While they have succeeded in cloning her voice and her number, what is however constant is that they cannot clone the truth.
“As we approach the next legal milestone in this journey, brace yourselves. There will be more fake calls. More lies. More attempts to make you doubt what you know. But do not be fooled, do not forward the lies and do not stay silent in the face of injustice,” the statement added.
