A former President, Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) and Kogi state governorship aspirant, Dr. Idris Omede has promised to take advantage of the critical transnational location to develop the state, if elected in November.
Omede, a former commissioner for health in the state, made this known in a press statement sent to Kogireports on Monday.
He stated that Kogi state economy cannot blossom without adequate thoughts and attention to its zones, local government areas and neighbours.
The medical practitioner explained that his governorship aspiration is centered on economic growth, social inclusion and environmental protection.
He said his blueprint for economic growth will be driven agriculture, tourism, commerce and industrialization, creative industry and sports. His social inclusion plan will cover health, education and empowerment while environmental protection plan will ensure peace and security.
He assured that the promised work program with the people for four years will be scale-able by the people’s attestation of evidential progresses.
“I marvel at the zeal, enthusiasm and positive disposition of so many patriotic citizens of Kogi state to advance, propel and actualize my governorship aspiration.
“My vision in the long term is to ensure that Kogi state, in the midst of its potentials, becomes a sustainable source of economic diversification and empowerment, with a focus on eliminating extreme poverty through effective and efficient participation of most persons, particularly women and youths,” he said.
He pledged to develop and leverage on the creativity of youths and professionals within the state and in the diaspora.
