I am reliably aware of Local Government chairmen in Kogi State that are involved in monthly contributions of N10m while they pay their workers 30% – 40% of the due basic salaries. At least Prince Abubakar Audu’s administration gave us Kogi state University.
Is it not a sorry case to know that the only overhead carriage, whether pedestrian or motorist in Kogi State is located/situated in front of The St. Andrews Nursery/Primary school along Okene-Checkpoint road? And the credit goes to a past local government chairman during Abubakar Audu’s regime.
The infrastructural transformation in Anambra alone is impressive and their allocation is way lesser than that for Kogi State. Osun State is the least on the food chain, yet they give free education and tablet pcs to pupils and again, Cross River is way below on this list yet they can boast of the calabar carnival.
Imo State’s biannual revenue surpasses Kogi with only N1b and they offer free education to their wards, there roads would also wow you.
I am just yet to pin point major visible achievement(s) the present and even the past administration in Kogi State have given us. I bet my annual salary that you would be more than impressed if you took a trip to Sokoto considering the difference in biannual allocation not up to N1b. Is it the International standard airport we recently heard, would be constructed in Kogi, I guess that would take another ten to twenty years to materialize. As such, that seems to me like additional guber term stunt. The governor had to literally break a leg in a crash caused by one of our pathetic death tracks called roads before he could fix just a few kilometres of the road.
Sometimes I wonder why like in some states, there are no form of media debates for our wannabe political officeholders. At least that will give the electorates foresights as to what to expect from a particular person in government. Do I even need to go further to include that it is only in Kogi, politicians would not honor radio/tv invites just because they cannot account for the position they are holding.
Everyday i hope and pray there’s a revolution that will see to a better representation in Kogi, thereby making a rebirth of the Kogi of my dream. Long live Kogi, Long life Nigeria.
