The member representing Ijumu constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Honourable Ade Omofaiye, has assured his constituents of his commitment to making dividends of democracy accessible to all sons and daughters of Ijumu.
Omofaiye made this known in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on New Media, Comrade Prime Abubakar.
Omofaiye, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Works, promised to fulfill his campaign promises and make Ijumu people proud.
Aside making laws for the people of Kogi State, Omofaiye listed some of his constituency interventions he has made so far. He has provided functional boreholes for his constituents in Ayeh Gbedde and Ekinrin Adde while survey has been carried out on five communities and drilling is scheduled to commence today as part of his constituency projects. The communities to benefit from this are Igah community in Ogidi, lkoyi, Aiyegunle, Ogale and Ayere.
Education being the major enterprise of his people, Omofaiye is proposing to pay NECO fees for Thirty (30) students in Ijumu. He has concluded plans to distribute exercise books to students in all schools domiciled in Ijumu land.Based on his findings that most of these schools lack instructional materials, Omofaiye said he will also provide customised chalks to these schools. A week ago, he visited Ijumu students at Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja to present food items and cash support.
On his primary assignment as a lawmaker, Omofaiye has six motions and two bills in waiting to his credit. On the floor of the House, he moved a motion calling on the state government to as a matter of urgency complete the abandoned roads across the entire Ijumu land. He equally moved a motion calling on the state government to establish Kogi State television in Lokoja. This motion was widely applauded across the state.
Omofaiye called the attention of the state government to the need to render financial assistance to one Mr Kehinde Bamidele an indigene of Ogidi.
Ìn a bid to get closer to his constituents, Omofaiye runs a functional constituency office at Iyara, the Ijumu Local Government headquarter. In addition, he recently launched a social communication platform on Whatsapp and Facebook to make him more accessible to Ijumu sons and daughters both at home and in diaspora.
