It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that I mourn the passing of our dear friend, mentor, and brother, Mr. Friday Isah Ekpa, popularly known as Mr. Fari. His demise has left an unfillable void in the lives of all who knew him, and I am honored to pay this tribute to his memory.
Mr. Fari was a multifaceted individual who wore many hats. As an educator, he was passionate about imparting knowledge and inspiring young minds. I vividly remember his teaching practice days at our alma mater, Emodu Community Secondary School (ECSS), Ofabo, where he taught Agricultural Science with unwavering enthusiasm. His lectures were always engaging, and he had a unique ability to simplify complex concepts, making them accessible to all. Who can forget his explanations of glucocorticoids and mineralocorticoids, or his meticulous teachings on various botanical names of food crops and animals?
However, Mr. Fari’s academic journey took an interesting turn when he decided to switch from Agricultural Science to Political Science, a decision that would shape his future endeavors. He went on to pursue a Master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), demonstrating his thirst for knowledge and his willingness to adapt and evolve.
Beyond the classroom, Mr. Fari was a natural leader and a champion of peace. As the former Chairman of Emodu Development Association (EDA) Ofabo Home branch, he played a crucial role in averting a major crisis that threatened the lives of many, including the revered John Omale Akwuye. His leadership and diplomatic skills were instrumental in resolving the conflict, and his selflessness and bravery earned him the respect and admiration of his community.
Until his untimely passing, Mr. Fari served as the Vice Principal of ECSS, Ofabo, where he continued to inspire and mentor students, colleagues, and the community at large.
Mr Friday isah Ekpa Coordinated Emodu community secondary school old students association ECSSOOSA and Obida family Progressive Association just to mention a few and the association has grown tremendously with landmark achievements.
As I reflect on Mr. Fari’s life and legacy, I am reminded of his kindness, humility, and generosity. He was a true servant-leader who dedicated his life to serving others. His passing leaves a gaping hole in our lives, but his memory will continue to inspire us to strive for excellence, to lead with compassion, and to serve with humility.
Rest in peace, dear Mr. Fari. Your legacy will live on through the countless lives you touched, and your memory will continue to inspire us to be better versions of ourselves.
May God grant you eternal rest and comfort your loved ones during this difficult time once again rest in peace.
