- Seeks For Concession Arrangements With Dangote Cement, Kogi State
Hon Musa Olumayowa Yakubu, popularly known as M.O.Y, has called the attention of government representatives across board to the deplorable state of Kabba-Iyamoye-Omuo Ekiti road.
MOY made the call in a statement issued in Lokoja on Friday.
He said, “It has become a recurring decimal for the road to become impassable yearly, during the raining season. Most especially, a particular portion at Iyamoye community, Ijumu LGA of the State always cause untold hardship to commuters and members of the community.
“This is a federal road that links the north to the southwest and has been so useful for the movement of people and goods between the two regions.
“Meanwhile, Iyamoye and other neighbouring communities are agrarian in nature and the yearly situations of the road has always affected movements of their produce to the markets. Same goes for commuters passing through the community. Take for instance, some people spent days along that road in 2022 before getting to their respective destinations.
“I hereby call on government across boards, to as a matter of urgency, come to our aid in fixing the road.
“I appeal to President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, Governor Yahaya Bello, Senator Sunday Karimi, Hon Tayo Ishaya, Hon Taofeek Isha and by extension, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, whose trucks always pass through the road and break down on daily basis at the said potion of the road to please, work together in helping us to fix the road.
“This can be easily done under a concession arrangements as seen in Obajana road,” he said.
MOY added that if the road is fixed, it will not only ease movements of people and goods between the North and the Southwest but will also, to a large extent, reduce insecurity in the environment as many people have been kidnapped along the road in recent time past.
Iyamoye is an agrarian and border community in Kogi State that shares boundaries with Ekiti and Ondo States. Due to its strategic location, it serves as a business and marketing hub for the neighboring communities.
