Motorists and commuters travelling along the Ayingba road in Kogi State have called on the state police commissioner, Seidu Madawaki, to increase police presence on the road to check robbery.
Some of the motorists who spoke with Daily Trust at the weekend lamented incessant robbery operations on the road, leading to loss of cash and valuables. One of the motorists, Issac Elijah, said the robbery operation usually take place between Itobe and Ayingba.
“Every time you travel along Ayingba road, you would run into armed robbers disposing people of their belongings. They rob as if there are no security agents in the area. We want to police to come to our aid”, he said.
A commuter, Ejima Christ, said the development is worrisome as the bandits operate on a daily basis.
He called on the police commissioner to look into the matter. Others, who spoke to our correspondent, all called for improved security on the road.
