Thousands of youths from Mopamuro local government area of Kogi State will on Thursday, December 28, meet in Mopa to chart a new course for the council.
The Voice Of Mopamuro Youths (VOMY) in collaboration with National Youths Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Mopamuro Chapter are the organisers of the all-important Mopamuro Youth Summit. These platforms were formed on the premise of awakening the youths politically and economically that the time to lead is now.
Just few weeks ago, the Kogi NYCN held its first state summit tagged Youth Dialogue on the election matters at Idrinana Hotel Lokoja, Nigeria where they had some notable guest speakers and dignitaries in attendance.
In the past, ‘Political Herods’ used the youths as mercenaries and immediately dump them upon winning an election, but now the game is changing due to massive sensitisation from various youths platforms (youths movement).
The reason the youths should be political enthusiasts is not far seek:
Emmanuel Jean Michel Macron was exactly 39 years when he won the general election that inaugurated him into the office of the President of France on the 7th, May 2017.
If this could work over there, it can also be replicated here.
Aliyu Sabiu Muduru became the youngest speaker ever (30 years), in the State house of Assembly, Katsina State.
These and more can also be replicated in Kogi State.
The reason our youths have to participate in politics is that: politics is meant for the intelligent, vibrant, courageous, selfless and patriotic citizens!
In the 60s when the today’s technocrats were young, they were passionate and the economy was viable and very robust.
They caused every problem due to their inability to work like before, thus the economy suffers as a result of lack of innovation.
Sanusi Lamido Sanusi said something, “Nigeria will change only when the youths unanimously agreed to present one intelligent youth and vote him/her as the President”.
The usefulness of Youths in Politics and Economy cannot be overemphasize.
Most importantly, I call on all the Youths Movement in Nigeria and Kogi State, it’s time to come together for up to converge our focus and be more political oriented than becoming sycophancy oriented.
The VOMY in collaboration with NYCN invites every Mopamuro Youth in Kogi State and beyond to  commemorate the date slated for this event.
Date: 28, Dec. 2017
Time: 11am
Venue: Mopa City Hall
