The Kogi State Presidential Campaign Council of the Peoples Democratic Party strongly condemns the use of mass arrest as a tool to deter eligible voters from participating in tomorrow’s presidential and national assembly elections.

The council notes that this tactic is the last resort of the sinking APC led by outgoing governor, Yahaya Adoza Bello.

At the last count, not less than 14 members of the PDP from Mopa community in Kogi West are currently in the custody of the Police in Lokoja under questionable circumstances in a mass raid which started at exactly 12:04am this morning.

This council reminds Kogites that about one month ago, it was brought to the attention of the world that a special task team has been created by the Kogi State Governor and funded for the purpose of degrading the enormous capacity of the PDP to clear the stakes in the coming elections.

There is therefore no other vindication of our initial position than what is currently playing out in Kogi West Senatorial zone. Whereas the PDP is not bothered about its chances in tomorrow’s polls because the eligible voters have already taken a stand, we wonder why a party which boasts of being in the good books of the masses will seek to arm twist the same mass of voters as means of scoring a win.

Notwithstanding this development, we charge our members and supporters to remain strong and jot be deterred by this latest move of desperate politicians who seek power at all costs even when they have no capacity to add value to the lives of people.

This council also wishes to notify relatives of the unlawful captives that already, steps have been taken to ensure an unconditional release of their loved ones.

Voting is a few hours from now and we remain certain and strongly optimistic that the outcome of the voting process will be such that will permanently retire unscrupulous politicians from circulation.
