Workers in Kogi State have been called upon to take advantage of this weekend to stock up their houses with food and other necessities in preparation for the nation-wide industrial action to press home demands for a new minimum wage.

The Chairman, United Labour Congress (ULC) Kogi State chapter, Comrade Opaluwa Eleojo Simeon made the call during a media chat in Lokoja on Saturday.

Opaluwa stated that the planned industrial action will be the ‘mother of strikes’ as has never been witnessed before in the history of Nigeria.

“Virtually all sectors of the Nation’s economy shall be paralyzed until our agreement with the government is implemented. We urge Nigerians to join us in this struggle for liberation as it is the right of workers to make a demand for the improvement of their living standard,” he said.
