Hon. Salman Idris, representing Kabba/Bunu-Ijumu Federal Constituency, has showered encomium on Governor Usman Ododo for approving a new minimum wage of N72,500 for civil servants in Kogi State.
In a statement on Tuesday, Hon Salman said the move will significantly boost worker’s morale and stimulate economic growth in the state, as purchasing power increases.
The new minimum wage takes effect immediately, with consequential adjustments to follow.
According to the Rep member, Governor Ododo’s administration has demonstrated its commitment to worker’s welfare, recognizing the importance of fair wages and social security.
The statement signed by Mubeen Musa, Hon. Salman’s senior aide, the lawmaker commended President Tinubu for signing the new minimum wage bill into law. He used the opportunity to appreciate former Governor Yahaya Bello for the civil service reforms during his tenure which created an enabling environment for a seamless governance of Kogi state.
The Kogi State Government has also announced the suspension of all taxation elements attached to the new minimum wage for civil servants for the next 12 months, providing further relief to workers.
