A young philanthropist, Engineer Michael Idowu Obanewo, moved by a passion to render selfless service to humanity, has concluded plans to provide free medical treatment to the vulnerable and aged ones for one year.

Obanewo, in partnership with a health care insurance company, will from June 1st 2024 provide medical treatments to at least 200 people in his Ayetoro Gbede community of Kogi state with one person from each of 200 families for one year.

This is to reduce the financial burdens on each beneficiary during the one year duration and to give hope to the hopeless and reduce their hardships especially during this hard time.

According to the philanthropist, the free medical services to be rendered to members of the community for one year include general consultations and treatment of diseases such as malaria, typhoid fever, providing ante-natal care, deliveries, post-natal care, paediatric care.

Others include surgeries, ENT and eye care service, emergency care, ultrasound scan, x-ray service, orthopaedic care, physiotherapy services, skin care services, primary mental care, internal medicine management of hypertension, diabetes, peptic ulcer, asthma and other chronic diseases.

Obanewo disclosed that this plan will pay all the costs of referrals to the Federal Teaching Hospital Lokoja or within the state and call on the people to notify their loved ones at home who require such support to join others on the designated date and venue for selection.

He said the mode of selection will be that the High Chief and his subjects from each quarter will unanimously recommend seven individuals who require such assistance adding this will allow the medical team to avoid randomly selecting those who do not need such support while simultaneously reaching out to those who do.

He said the beneficiaries include all Ayetoro Gbede residents, regardless of race, political affiliation, or religious beliefs while the selection date is Saturday June 1, 2024, and the enrolment date is Saturday June 8, 2024 at the Ayetoro Gbede Town Hall.
