Data Science Nigeria (DSN), Nigeria’s leading ecosystem in Artificial Intelligence is collaborating with Mentor-Box, Kogi State’s foremost Innovation Hub to host a six week training on machine learning and python programming.
The Co-founder of Mentor-Box, Eunice Emmanuel-Bagi said the strategic partnership is in line with the hub’s objective of creating an enabling environment that provides the opportunity for young people in the state to equip themselves with the skills, tools and information needed to inspire innovation, create solutions to problems in their environment and build a resilient and inclusive economy.
Speaking on the rationale for the partnership, Miss Emmanuel-Bagi noted that Data Science Nigeria shared the vision of creating jobs and opportunities for Nigerian graduates and undergraduates and is committed to raising one million talents in Artificial Intelligence across the country over the next ten years.
“The world is evolving and it is important for us in especially the youth to evolve with it, many young graduates upon graduating from their tertiary institutions find that their degrees are now obsolete and the skills that they have are no longer in demand, this is one of the reasons why we have unemployment problem in Nigeria.
“The future of work is technology driven and is technology enabled, an understanding of big data, small data, artificial intelligence, robotics are what would give any young person an edge in the labor market,” she said.
The free training at Mentor-Box, started on Saturday, the 15th of February, over the next six weeks participants will be introduced to the world of data science and will undergo an intensive training on the rudiments of machine learning and python programming.
