The governorship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) in the November elections in Kogi State, Mr. Olayinka Braimoh has congratulated the Nigerian workers on the celebration of this year’s Workers Day.
He prayed to God to grant the grace to all workers to enjoy the fruit of their labour in good health.
In a press statement issued in Lokoja on Monday, Braimoh noted that the workers in both the public and private sectors will benefit from the wealth creation, capacity building, and infrastructure initiatives which his administration has included in his manifesto and action plan.
He noted that any system which does not inspire its workforce, encourage them to put in their best, and motivate them to be loyal to the system will fail and will not be to the benefit of anybody.
“We plan to ensure workers in the public sector have access to car loans and housing loans that will enable them own their units in the estates to be built by the government and also we will make a complete overhaul of their work environment such that they can put in maximum efforts.
“Our work environment in Kogi State public service will be revamped such that the impact of technology will be felt. We will create a modern service that other states will admire and emulate.
“I believe in the concept of a worker deserving his pay and getting it before his sweat will dry from his face. The era of workers being denied timely payment of salary and allowances will be eliminated. It is the first thing that any incoming administration should attend to in its first month in office. It will be part of our administration’s quick takes. Seamless payment of workers’ salaries and allowances must be something to be achieved in the first 100 days.
“We have a lot of ambitious programmes that will create wealth for every resident of Kogi State. We have plans on providing basic universal healthcare services through a community insurance policy. Our education agenda will impact on the quality of the sector and we will ensure that the facilities are revamped.
“All these social services in addition to infrastructural facilities as well as other wealth creation plans will enhance the standard of living of workers across Kogi State. We dream that the workers in Kogi State should be so happy that they will be the envy of their counterparts across the country.
“Meanwhile, I congratulate all the workers in Nigeria on this day designated as a special one to recognize their contributions to the socio-economic and political development of our country, particularly the ones in Kogi State. We appreciate them. We recognize them as the engine of the development of our state and we promise that their welfare will be the priority of our government. We urge them to vote for the AA, the number one party in our state. Happy Workers Day to all”, Braimoh stated.
