The member representing Okene I constituency Hon. Lawi AT Ahmed has described the wave of high-profile defections from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi state as a
sign of confidence Kogites have in the party.
Hon. Lawi made this known during a media chat at the arena of the rally yesterday.
He allayed the fears of some party members who thought the big names would hijack the party, explaining that they were joining in order to contribute to the progress of the party.
“How are they going to hijack the party? They are decamping because they have realized that the APC is the best political party in terms of fairness and internal democracy. We need their input in strengthening the party. New members can contest for any available position in our party,” Lawi said.
Hon. Lawi called on party members to accept the defectors as full members of the APC, saying the party has an open door policy that allows new members to enjoy full benefits.
Hon. Lawi urged those who still have the intention of decamping to the greatest party in Africa not to hesitate to join immediately.
