In its efforts to check malaria in Kogi State, the government in conjunction with Malaria Action Plan (MAP) has procured long lasting insecticide-treated nets for onward distribution to households in the state.
The state manager on Roll Back Malaria, Alhaji Hussein Akor, stated this at the weekend while addressing members of the Advocacy Communication and Social Mobilization on Malaria Control in Lokoja.
Alhaji Akor said the gesture was in addition to the drugs being distributed to various health centres in the state.
He noted that malaria has hindered socio-economic development of the state, adding that government would do whatever it takes to curb the effect of the disease on the people.
According to him, many activities have been lined up to mark this year’s World Malaria Day slated for April 25th. He commended MAP and other stakeholders for committing their resources to the war against malaria in the state.
