We want to ask if member representing Igalamela/Odolu, Hon. Friday Sanni Makama is back on suspension.
The whole world is aware of the ruling by Justice Henry Olusuyi of Kogi State High Court voiding his purported suspension. The whole world is also aware that Makama has resumed his legislative activities since his reinstatement by the court. The whole world is aware that he was in the Assembly on 1st August, 2017 when thugs invaded the House and attempted to take his life.
However, we noticed that in the recently published Kogi House of Assembly Votes and Proceedings of August 23rd 2017, it was indicated that Makama is on suspension. Previous published documents on 3rd, 15th, and 16th August 2017 shows Makama was simply absent but not on suspension.
The new leadership of Kogi State House of Assembly under the Speaker, Hon. Matthew Kolawole have some explanations to make to the general public.
Yes, we know he was installed by Governor Yahaya Bello to ensure the House does his whims and caprices. We also know that one of the sins of the immediate past Speaker of the House, Imam is that he allowed Makama resume sitting in the House. However, his loyalty to the powers that be must be done within the ambit of the law.
Up until 16th August Makama was not on suspension but marked as been on suspension 7 days later on 23rd August. What is Speaker Kolawole trying to tell us? This is a black market decision and we demand explanation.
When did Kolawole appeal the judgement that voided Makama suspension? His current action might be contempt of court.
Kindly see roll calls of Kogi State House of Assembly’s votes and proceedings for 3rd, 15th, 16th and 23rd August 2017 below.
