Lokoja Transition Committee Chairman Declares War on Criminals Terrorizing Students, Residents in Felele, Crusher Communities

  • Convenes Emergency Security Meeting

The Transition Committee Chairman of Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi state, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu, has declared total war on criminals operating around Felele and Crusher communities.

Adamu made this known on Monday when he convened an emergency security meeting to address disturbing security threats facing students of the Federal University of Lokoja, Kogi State Polytechnic Lokoja and residents of Felele and Crusher Communities.

Following distress calls from the National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS National) and residents, the Chairman invited the Eleson of Felele, HRH Abdulkareem Alhassan and his Traditional Council; Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Abdullahi Musa Yusuf and Chief Security Officer of Federal University Lokoja; Comrade Elukpo Jeremiah, President of National Association of Kogi State Students, other leadership of student bodies and security agents to find a sustainable solution to the menace.

Comrade Abdullahi Adamu commended the Traditional ruler and representatives of the University for coming to the meeting on short notice. He reiterated the commitment of the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo to ensure the safety of lives and property hence the need put all hands on deck to arrest the ugly situation.

The meeting drew contributions from the representatives from Felele Phase 2 and Crusher Community, representatives of both local chapters and the NAKOSS National, victims, Dean of Student Affairs, vigilante groups, hunters, representatives of the Nigerian Police, DSS and Civil Defense.

The Chairman noted that the meeting became necessary in view of the security challenges. He urged the communities involved to collaborate with the security agencies by providing useful and timely information to the authorities.

The meeting resolved to take serious actions beginning with the planned mass security sensitization on Tuesday and joint security operations afterwards including restrictions of movements in odd hours among many others action plans.

Recall the Chairman had commissioned a joint patrol team which commenced operation on Friday to comb the Kasuwan Ruwa, Sarkin Noma and parts of Felele.
