Lokoja Roads Set To Wear Modern Look as Work Commence in 2 Weeks

Work will in the next two weeks commence on the welcome to Lokoja, and the road that passes through the Army Barracks, Zone 8 junction, Ganaja Junction and the road leading to the International Market in Lokoja.

The road which is a 20km road, awarded to CGC Construction Company at the cost of N4.1 Billion, is set to begin following the approval and release of mobilization funds to the construction Company.

The road considered as a major arterial road passing through Lokoja Township,  according to Kogi State Deputy Governor, Yomi

Awoniyi, will ease the hardship faced by commuters as is presently experience.

Awoniyi, made the disclosure of the commencement of work, when he received in audience the management of CGC, the Construction Company handling the road project.

The dualised road when completed, Awoniyi maintained would be equipped with street lights, Bus-stops, walkways, and would improve the aesthetic beauty of the State capital.

Awoniyi, appealed to citizens of Lokoja to bear with the inconveniences the road construction will cause them, urged the contracting firm to deliver on good quality jobs so as to justify the confidence the State Government reposed on them.

Awoniyi, pointed out that following the importance the present administration places on good roads, government he added has equally commenced work on the 16km Ganaja – Otokiti bye pass, said aside the rains which have slowed down the pace of work, government he added is at the advance stage of discussion to settle the issues of compensation to property owners whose properties were taken over by the road and is also in talk with the military authorities to allow for the road to pass through the Army Barracks land.

Awoniyi, equally assured of the commencement of work on all deplorable roads in all the State Housing Estates as soon as the dry season sets in, pointed out that Government under the administration of Capt Idris Wada is resolute in ensuring that infrastructures that will enhance the well-being and improved living standard of the people is put in place.

Earlier in his remarks, Godwin Onameh, Commissioner for Works, said following the approval and mobilization of funds made to the company, work is set to commence on the dualization of welcome to Lokoja to international market road, said the construction company has equally assured to deliver on quality job.

In his response, Fan pull, the Project Manager of CGC, assured of earnest commencement of work on the road project, and appealed to the residents of Lokoja to be patient with the construction company following the inconveniences they road construction will cause them. He assured that his company will deliver not only on quality job but also work towards a timely completion of the road project.
