The immediate past chairman of Lokoja Local Government Area, Alhaji Aliyu Baba Usman has formally handed over mantle of leadership to the recently appointed administrator for the area, Alhaji Lawal Shiru.
The handing over, which effectively brought to an end, the tenure of the immediate past local government boss, witnessed the signing of relevant documents to effectively signify change of baton at the Local Government Secretariat in Lokoja.
A Press statement signed by Alhaji Aliyu Baba Usman’s media adviser, Yabagi Mohammed, quoted him as thanking the people of the area for giving him the opportunity to serve, saying that though his tenure was not without challenges, he gave gratitude to God for a successful term in office.
He praised the resilience and determination of the people of Lokoja Local Government, especially the staff, for the support accorded him while he was in office and called on them to accord same to the new helmsman.
Hon Aliyu, who also pledged his support for the present leadership of Alhaji Yahaya Bello, called on the new administrator to call on him where necessary, as he would make himself available in any area his inputs may be required.
The immediate past Chairman noted with delight that the new administrator is a young man, like himself, ready to bring his energy to bear in efforts to translate the new direction of the new administration of the state government.
On his part, the new administrator, Hon Lawal Shiru, who pledged his determination to put staff welfare ahead of every other priorities, said his leadership would device means to ensure an improved Internally Generated Revenue.
He praised the roles of Kogi state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello and the speaker of Kogi state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Umar Ahmed Imam, towards his emergence as the Lokoja Local Government boss.
He pledged not to betray the confidence reposed in him.
