Lokoja LG Caretaker Chairman Donates Cash to Victims of Fire Outbreak in Jamata, Ajara Quarters

The Caretaker Chairman of Lokoja local government area of Kogi state, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu has donated one million Naira to support victims of Wednesday inferno in Jamata community.

The Chairman, who arrived Jimata on Thursday along with the Speaker Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Aliyu Umar Yusuf and the Executive Secretary, Kogi State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Alhaji Mouktar Atimah assured the people of Governor Usman Ododo’s commitment to provide succour to the victims.

He said the one million Naira donation was to help victims cater for their feeding, medicals and other basic needs while awaiting the intervention of the State Emergency Management Agency.

Alhaji Atimah who also sympathized with the community assured them that the Kogi state government has already commenced preparation to bring aid to the victims.

He commended the Chairman for the quick response and for coming to the aid of the community within the shortest period of time.

The SEMA Boss used the opportunity to appeal to the community, especially those along the flood plains, to begin to move to higher ground as the water rises.

The Assembly Speaker, who was represented by the Member representing Lokoja 1, Hon. Bin-Ebaiya Shehu Tijjani, assured the community that the entire State Assembly will also provide its support and intervention to cushion the effect of the unforeseen disaster.

Both Mr. Ifeanyi Eze and Mrs Kemi Emmanuel, who spoke on behalf of the victims, appealed to the government to help them get back on their feet having lost everything to the fire.

The entourage also visited the victims of another fire outbreak in Ajara Quarters within Lokoja metroplois where he donated Five Hundred Thousand Naira to the victims.

Also in the entourage was Special Adviser to Governor Ododo on SEMA, Dr. Sandra Mimi Musa, SA Emergency Management, Alhaji Shuaibu Mohammed, Secretary to Lokoja Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Egamana.
