The Kogi State Police Command has warned that political thugs and all those have no business in Saturday’s bye-election for Lokoja/Kogi federal constituency should steer clear of the polling units and collation centers.
A statement issued on Thursday in Lokoja by the Command’s spokesman, William Aya said, “Whoever is caught breaching the laws regulating the conduct of this bye-election will be dealt with decisively no matter how highly placed.”
Aya assured the public that police in collaboration with other sister security agencies would ensure adequate security for before, during and after the election.
“The Command’s priority is to ensure free, fair, credible and violence-free election. In order to achieve this, members of the affected Local Government Areas are urged to fully cooperate with the security agencies to guard against criminal elements hijacking/disrupting the processes of the election.
“The Command hereby warns would be trouble makers especially those that will masquerade as Political thugs to stay away from the polling booths and collation centres”, Aya said.
