There was jubilation at some parts of Lokoja traditional area, in Lokoja local government area of Kogi State on Tuesday as the area experienced again, for the first time in two years, the flow of pipe borne water, courtesy of Hon. Tijjani Shehu Bin-Ebaiya (BEST).
Bin-Ebaiya, who drove into Karaworo and Hangwanza Streets to witness the development described the restoration as a fulfillment of promise he made to the people.
Bin-Ebaiya who is a chairmanship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, said; “this is a promise kept.
“Immediately I got to the area during a consultation visit with my campaign team, (TEAM BEST), this was what they mentioned, they said their pipes have not been running for years and I told them I will do everything within my powers to turn around the situation before the local government election.
“So many pipes were already damaged and blocked because of some road work over time but we were able to fix new pipes and get water to the area”, Bin-Ebaiya said.
The chairmanship aspirant who rode on a motorcycle round the area to have a first hand look at some of the water fetching points said the effort by his campaign organization to make pipe borne water available to the people remains an ongoing one, assuring that the organization will continue to do its best to improve on water supply from one community to the other.
Residents who spoke with this reporter, describing water as life took turn to shower praises on Bin-Ebaiya for mitigating their suffering in assessing portable water.
“Water has not run from this tap in the past 2 years, fetching from here today still seem to me as though am dreaming, may God bless Bin-Ebaiya, may his enemies die of drought”, Fatima Isiaku, a resident said.
Another citizen, Abdullahi Usman, who resides in Madabo, said that even though the service was still to reach his residence, he was optimistic that it would soon get there given Bin-Ebaiya’s track record in keeping its promises to the people.
He said: “In Bin-Ebaiya, we have seen a man who has always kept his promises; Even though our own tap is yet to be activated, we know that it will get to us in no distant time. We see that work is ongoing and we are confident that in no time, we will join our fellow residents to enjoy this wonderful gesture.”
Needless to say, residents and visitors alike, have welcomed this development with such jubilation and excitement that they have promptly nicknamed the taps ‘Ruwan Bin-Ebaiya’ (Bin-Ebaiya’s water).
