Lokoja APC Parallel Congresses; Confusion as Mamanlafia, Maikudi Emerge Chairmen

A faction of the Lokoja LGA All Progressives Congress (APC) have elected new executives to run the affairs of the party.

Usman Mamanlafia and Abubakar Nagogo Maiyaki emerged the factional Chairman and Secretary respectively in a twenty seven man executive.
The factional congress took place at St Luke’s Model Primary School Adankolo, Lokoja.
The faction is alleged to be loyal to the embattled State Chairman of APC, Haddy Ametuo.
The congress was supervised by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and in the presence of men of the Special Anti Robbery Squad.
The newly elected chairman pledged to carry along all segment of the party with a call on those aggrieved to close ranks in the interest of the party.
The Chairman described the enthusiasm of the members, who defied the rains in an exercise to strengthen internal democracy, as commendable.
In their separate remarks, some elders of the Local Government Area APC Elders who include: Mr Bosede, Mustapha Allahdey, Ranti Adeagbo, Francis Angulu and Mrs Toyin Classy, described the elected officials as capable of moving forward the party, urging them to reach out to more members with a view to swelling the ranks of members of the party.
Meanwhile, security men invaded the Adankolo venue of the Congress, dispersed the delegates and seized the chairs and canopies hired by the organises.

At a parallel congress, Maikudi Bature was elected Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) Lokoja LGA chapter.

The Chairman was elected by 248 delegates from across the ten Wards of the Local Government Area in a peaceful congress held at Lokoja Local Government Hall, opposite Crowther Memorial College.
Declaring the result and winners of the Congress, Haruna Isah, Chairman Congress Committee for the Local Government, said the twenty seven member local government executives emerged by affirmation.
He commended the orderly conduct of delegates. He said the laid down rules by the party and INEC where dueely followed.
In his remarks, Adoga Ibrahim, Special Adviser to the Kogi State Governor on Donor Agencies, said the APC members have spoken as one united family, saying that the party in Lokoja LGA is rancour free and united in one purpose.
He charged the newly elected executives to see their emergence in the interest of moving forward the party, said much is expected of them in repositioning the party for greater gains of democracy.
Also speaking, Hon Shiru Lawal, Administrator of Lokoja LGA, described the turnout of party members in the rain and their enthusiasm to have a peaceful congress as sign of good things to come for the party in the area.
The Administrator called on the newly inaugurated executives to reach out to others who are not in the fold with a view to improving the chances of the party in future election.
Shiru pointed out that with the unity existing within the ranks of the party in Lokoja LGA, future elections will be a walkover for APC.
In an acceptance speech, the newly elected Chairman of the local government, Bature Maikudi, says his emergence would not be taken for granted, would spur him to meet with the challenges and expectations of the people of the local government area.
