LG Polls: Two SDP Councillorship Candidates in Kogi Abandons Ambition, Defects to APC

Few days to October 19 local government elections in Kogi state, two councillorship candidates of Social Democratic Party (SDP) have pulled out of the race.

The councillorship candidates from Emewe and Abocho wards of Dekina local government area their decision known when they visited the Deputy Governor of the state, Comrade Joel Salifu, in Lokoja on Wednesday.

Hon. Alabi Okati of Abocho ward and Hon. Ibrahim Siaka of Emewe ward also announced their defection to All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Deputy Governor of Kogi State, who received two former councillorship candidates, commended the duo for the decision to relinquish their aspirations and collapse their structures, acknowledging that they will now enjoy the same benefits as other APC members.

He emphasized that the All Progressive Congress is a formidable party capable of accommodating a large followers, stating that the end of tribal politics has come.

Comrade Joel Salifu praised the two SDP councillorship candidates for their choices and expressed confidence that they would not regret their decision.

In their individual speeches, Hon. Alabi Okati and Hon. Ibrahim Siaka attributed their decision to the leadership style of Governor Usman Ododo and his Deputy, Comrade Joel Salifu.

They pledged to rally their supporters for the party’s success in the upcoming local government election on Saturday.
