Senator Smart Adeyemi has commended the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) for conducting a hitch free, credible and transparent council elections in the state.
Adeyemi also eulogized Kogi State Government for ensuring a fair and violent free election in the state, as well as the electorates, political parties across board and the newly elected council chairmen and councilors for a good conduct.
The three terms senator who spoke on the sideline of a successful Local government elections on Saturday, October 19, 2024 said, “From the reports I got from polling units across Ijumu and the state, the election was fair and peaceful.
“The electoral officers did a beautiful job, they delivered the election materials on time, and ensured a free, fair, credible and transparent poll.
“Pictorial and visuals shows people conducting themselves in a peaceful manner. Local council elections is actually the election of the people that will usher in grassroot leaders.
“The conduct of electorates in a peaceful and orderly manner contributed to making the process fair and credible.
“It is note worthy that the people were given a free hands to make their choice among the 19 different political parties on the ballot papers, as nobody was forced to vote for any party.
“Democracy is the celebration of free will and free choice, and that is the choice that the people have.”
Adeyemi appreciated Governor Ahmed Ododo for honouring his promises of ensuring a credible and transparent election to the people of Kogi State, “This is highly commendable.”
