A chairmanship aspirant in the forthcoming Local Government election in Kogi state, Prince Adamu Ibrahim Alih has visited Odugbo in Bassa local government area in continuation of his political tour.
The chairmanship hopeful was in the area to familiarize with the people and to also formally make his intention of seeking the highest office in the local government known to them.
The meeting which took place at the primary school in the ancient town had in attendance stakeholders of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the ward and youths alike who came out in large numbers to meet with the young politician.
Prince Alih, while introducing himself to the people, said the local government area has not attained the desired development and growth and as such if given the opportunity to serve, he will make sure that what is due to the people in the area of appointments, development and basic needs of the people are addressed promptly.
He also promised to carry every critical stakeholder in the local government along in the task of developing the area as it is a task that cannot be carried out by a single individual, but a collective task that requires every hand onboard.
He solicited for their support, urging them to work collectively with him to actualize this lofty dream so that at the end, they will all be involved in the process of governing Bassa together.
In their response, the people thanked the aspirant for moving out of his comfort zone to come and meet them promising to support him if he won’t disappoint and dump them by the wayside if eventually elected.
Many of them complained bitterly of promises made by past leaders who have held sway in the local government to do heaven and earth but later reneged on these promises and this according to them has always make them harbour fear when aspirants comes knocking seeking for their support.
An appreciable percentage of the people said they have known Prince Adamu Ibrahim Alih since the days of the former executive governor of Kogi state, the Late Prince Abubakar Audu and also as a loyal party man who played a prominent role during the last election that returned Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello and Chief Edward Onoja back to Lugard House and promised to garner support for him in the area.
Mr Eneojo Timothy, a friend of the aspirant who was part of his entourage also thanked the people on behalf of Prince Alih and told them not to entertain any fear as regard fulfilment of promises because the aspirant is a kind and large hearted man.
He said as a realist who believe in fulfilment of promises, he will be the first person to tell the chairman to his face if he fails to do the needful for the people of Bassa LGA.
Leader of Prince Adamu Ibrahim Alih support group, Mr Emmanuel Ibrahim Monday also thanked the people for their support, show of love and solidarity.
The visit is in continuation of his local government tour to meet face to face with the people, know where the shoe pinches them, what their problems are and also think of ways of proffering probable therapies to ameliorate these sufferings.
