The chairman of the committee in charge of the All Progressive Congress (APC) ward, local government and state congresses in Kogi State, Bestman Nze-Jombo has assured that the party is ready for a violence and rancour-free local government across the state.

Addressing party members at a stakeholders meeting ahead of Saturday’s local government congress at the party secretariat in Lokoja, the state capital, Bestman said the days of playing games are over.

He said his committee is the authentic organ mandated and recognised by the national leadership of APC.

“This committee is not working with any faction as it was the only authentic committee responsible for the organisation of the congresses.
“Those who think they can destroy our party before leaving are in for a shocker! This is the only authentic committee recognized by the party. The original copies of all materials needed for tomorrow;s congresses are here with us.
“All registered members of the party are expected to be at the venues of the congress to participate in the exercise. If anybody think they can go under the mango tree to do what they like, they are just wasting their time,” he said.

Speaking, Governor Yahaya Bello commended party supporters for the peaceful outing during the ward congresses across the state.

He charged party supporters to shun violence during Saturday’s local government congresses, assuring them of adequate security.

The Governor called on all registered members of APC in the state to go to their respective local governments and participate in the congress.
“APC belongs to all of us, nobody will be deprived. All authentic members of APC should go in and participate. You can’t stay outside and shout while other faithful members are on the field.
“When we cam on board, we promised to redefine politics in Kogi state. They called us green horns but today we are teaching veterans how to play politics”, he said.
Bello assured APC supporters that the party in the state will clinch the 25 House of Assembly, 9 House of Reps and the 3 Senate seats in the forthcoming elections.
“In Kogi, next elections will be 25 over 25, 9 over 9, 3 over 3 and ultimately 1 over 1,” he pledged.

He said the present crop of leaders in the state had redefined politics and were ready to lead among the 36 states in the country.
