The Executive Chairman of Okehi Local Government Area, Hon. Monday Amoka Eneji Odu, has congratulated the Okehi Basketball Team and Eika United FC on their impressive wins in the 2024 DAM Basketball Tournament and GYB Unity Football Tournament, respectively.
The Okehi Basketball Team showcased exceptional skill and determination, defeating top contenders like Lokoja, Dekina, and Ogori-Magongo to emerge victorious in the male category.
The female team also demonstrated remarkable prowess, securing second place after a thrilling match against Okene LGA Female Basketball Team.
Eika United demonstrated outstanding teamwork and strategy, defeating Prince Adamu Attah FC, Kuroko to claim the top spot in the 2024 annual GYB Unity Football Tournament.
Hon. Monday Amoka Eneji Odu attended the basketball championship matches, cheering on the teams and reaffirming his commitment to sports development in Okehi LGA.
He pledged that his administration will continue investing in sports and youth development initiatives, recognizing the vital role they play in promoting unity, skill-building, and community pride.
“I am incredibly proud of our teams’ achievements and dedication to excellence,” said Hon. Amoka Eneji Odu. “As we celebrate these victories, we also reaffirm our commitment to nurturing the talents of our youth and promoting sports development in Okehi LGA.”
The event was put together by Director General, Energy Commission of Nigeria, Dr Abdullahi Mustapha and Kogi state Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo was represented by his deputy, Elder Joel Oyibo, top government personalities, sport lovers and royal fathers from Kogi state with a special performances by Nigeria music superstar, Ice Prince.
