Lent, Ramadan: Abejide Calls for Unity, Prayers Amongst Yagba Faithful

The member representing Yagba East/West/Mopamuro Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Elder Leke Joseph Abejide, has called on Christians and Muslims in the constituency to embrace unity, prayers, and peaceful coexistence as they commence the sacred observances of Lent and Ramadan.

In a goodwill message released to newsmen on Wednesday to mark the beginning of the two important spiritual periods, Abejide described the simultaneous commencement of the spiritual exercises as a rare and significant moments for collective reflections, spiritual renewals, and moral rebirth amongst the people.

He noted that both observances, though rooted in different religious traditions, share common values of sacrifices, discipline, charity, and devotion to God, emphasizing that such virtues are essential to fostering peace, unity, and sustainable development within the constituency and beyond.

The federal lawmaker urged Christian and Muslim faithful to using the solemn periods in offering
prayers for the continued peace, stability, and progress of Yagba Federal Constituency, Kogi State, and Nigeria as a whole. He stressed that sincere prayers, acts of righteousness during the holy seasons could help strengthening the bonds of unity and mutual understanding amongst
the people.

Abejide also encouraged adherents of both faith to extend love and compassion to the less privileged, noting that acts of charity and kindness remain central to the true essence of Lent and Ramadan. He emphasized that supporting the vulnerable, promoting harmony would contributes —significantly to building a more inclusive and peaceful society.

According to him, “These sacred periods reminds us of our shared humanity and our collective responsibilities to promoting peace, justice, and unity. I urge all faithful in Yagba Federal Constituency to use this time to pray for our land and to continue to live together in harmony, irrespective of religious differences”, he added, whilst reaffirming his commitment to the welfare, development, continued effective representation of the constituency.

The lawmaker wished all Christians and Muslims in Yagba Federal Constituency a spiritually fulfilling Lent and Ramadan, expressing optimism that the prayers and sacrifices offered during these periods would usher in greater peace, prosperities, progress for the constituency—Kogi and the nation at large.
